Hello Colleague,
We are excited to officially announce and welcome the newest member of the HBCU Founders Initiative (HBCUFI) team, Miranda Perez, who serves as HBCUFI's Program Coordinator.
Miranda is a proud HBCU graduate and cross-topic multimedia journalist who received her B.A. in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University.
In her work, Miranda combines her authentic nature and objectivity to bridge understanding across generations, cultures and identities. She has held editor roles at BostInno and reporting roles at big tech publications like Insider and Built In. She’s also appeared on MSNBC to discuss education equity for Hispanic Americans.
In all of her media work, Miranda has prioritized amplifying marginalized voices and in doing so she was inspired to step away from traditional news to enter venture capital with the aim to further her ability to aid startups led by marginalized communities.
Originally from Chicago, Miranda is a first-generation college graduate. As the first to graduate in her family, she’s extremely enthusiastic about democratizing access to education and wealth. Some of her favorite sectors of tech include FinTech, EdTech, and FemTech. Through her work at HBCUFI, she hopes to offer founders insight and coaching on personal branding to help them obtain well-deserved media coverage.
Please join us in welcoming Miranda to the HBCUFI Family!
Best regards,
Jade Lockard
